Meet the Staff

Kristen Welzenbach, Curator of Special Collections and Archives 

Kristen oversees the management of Goucher College’s historical records, ephemeral collections, and rare books, including the Jane Austen Collection. She works closely with the Goucher community and the public to use these unique historical materials for teaching and scholarship. Kristen assists in events and exhibits that feature Goucher’s Jane Austen collection and works closely with the Jane Austen Society of North America in the management and care of their archives.

 

Juliette Wells, Professor of Literary Studies

Juliette has published widely on Jane Austen’s cultural legacy, her readership and reception, and Austen pedagogy. Goucher’s Jane Austen Collection and its founder, Alberta Burke, feature in Juliette’s books Everybody’s Jane: Austen in the Popular Imagination and Reading Austen in America, as well as in her annotated editions of Persuasion and Emma for Penguin Classics. Juliette regularly gives public-humanities presentations about Austen at Goucher, in the Baltimore area, and worldwide. She serves as a liaison between Goucher and the Jane Austen Society of North America.
